Happening from today to 12 October, Margaret River on Tour brings over 30 purveyors of world class wines and gourmet foods from Western Australia to Singapore.
The highlight of Margaret River on Tour is Seasons on The Hill ($68 per person), happening on 11 October at Tamarind Hill restaurant. Grab the opportunity to meet top Australian winemakers and sample wines from some of the region’s most celebrated vineyards such as Vasse Felix, Cullen Wines and Moss Wood Wines. But old favourites not withstanding, there is also the chance to discover new producers such as L.A.S Vino, Oates Ends and Windows Estate.
Food lovers, meanwhile, can savour the taste of Margaret River through fine food producers such as Margaret River Nougat Company and bean-to-bar chocolate makers Bahen & Co. Celebrated chefs Evan Hayter of Arimia Estate and Tony Howell, Tourism Australia’s culinary ambassador, will be on site dishing up dishes prepared with the region’s freshest seasonal produce.
Another showcase not to be missed is Margaret River Exposed ($40 per person), taking place at Monti, on 8 October. Sample top rated wines from Fraser Gallop Estate, McHenry Hohnen Vintners, Brown Hill Estate and more.
For a more lavish treat, book your seat for Liquid Gold, an exclusive seven-course dinner ($250 per person) at Gunther’s Restaurant on 9 October. Chef Tony Howell will be pairing dishes featuring top shelf Western Australian produce with the region’s finest Chardonnays. Think the likes of Flametree Wines, Vasse Felix, Xanadu Wines, Woodlands Wines, Pierro Margaret River Vineyards and Cape Lodge.
Come 12 October, sustainability takes the spotlight at Pressed and Fermented, happening at Salted and Hung. Chef Drew Nocente of Salted and Hung and chef Evan Hayter will be collaborating on a four-course menu ($138 per person) showcasing ethically raised pork, trout and Wagyu beef from chef Evan’s farm.
Finish off on a sweet high with a decadent dessert degustation experience at Sweet Tooth: A Sweet Wine Tasting ($140 per person) at 2am:dessertbar. Eight Margaret River dessert wines will be paired with sweet creations by chef Janice Wong, so expect a real treat.
