Wine & Dine readers gathered at Sofitel Singapore City Centre for an afternoon of elegant bites served alongside Grand Cru coffees and tea blends.

On 5 September 2019, a group of Wine & Dine readers and industry partners gathered at 1864, Sofitel Singapore City Centre’s stylish bar and lounge, to experience the establishment’s refreshed afternoon tea, offering elegant bites served alongside Grand Cru coffees and tea blends by Nespresso and TWG Tea respectively.

The attendees, comprising a good mix of corporates as well as ardent foodies, participated in an afternoon of hearty conversations as they indulged in an exquisite selection of bites such as smoked Atlantic salmon sandwiches as well as a decadent rendition of kueh pie tee featuring crab meat and caviar creme. The desserts, prepared by executive pastry chef Sam Leong, too, were equally scrumptious and indulgent, especially the chocolate tarts, made with smooth Valhrona Jivara 40 per cent blend imbued with Jerusalem artichoke, and the crispy croissant waffles topped with creamy truffle camembert cheese.

Another notable dish was the scones, available in either a classic version or with a filling of rum-infused dried fruits, accompanied with a side of clotted cream and Bonne Maman marmalade.

The afternoon concluded with more sweets like macarons and bonbons. Huge thanks to Sofitel Singapore City Centre for organising such a lovely afternoon tea session.

Available daily from 2 to 5pm, 1864’s refreshed afternoon tea set is priced at $88 and is best shared by two persons.
