Tutors accredited by l’Ecole du Vin de Bordeaux will conduct a Bordeaux wines masterclass for trade professionals at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore on 7 October 2019.
You may be an F&B trade professional with some knowledge of wine, but are you curious about what exactly makes a Bordeaux wine a wine from Bordeaux? Have all your questions answered at l’Ecole du Vin de Bordeaux (the Bordeaux Wine School)’s next masterclass on 7 October 2019 from 3-7pm.
Titled Bordeaux Terroirs, the masterclass will see accredited tutors Roderic Proniewski and Daisuke Kawai (two of only four in Singapore) explaining the characteristics that make up a Bordeaux wine. They will dive deep into specifics, discussing factors such as environmental and climatic impacts on Bordeaux wine’s sensory characteristics. Saving the best for last, there will be blind tasting of six Bordeaux wines to round off the afternoon—see if your palate is sharp enough to identify all the wines and a decoy too.

More about the tutors:
Roderic Proniewski and Daisuke Kawai are among some of the most prominent figures in the wine industry in Singapore. Director of Asia Wine Network Roderic Proniewski has a background in wine distribution and education. He co-organised the Wine and Spirit Asia Singapore Wine Challenge from 2010 to 2014, and has also been a judge at wine events such as the Michelangelo International Wine and Spirits Awards in South Africa and the International Wine Challenge in London. Most recently, with a growing interest in sustainability issues in F&B, he founded La Vie Lifestyle Pte Ltd, a company that deals in environmentally friendly products such as pasta straw, biodegradable straw, bags and containers.
Daisuke Kawai, formerly chief sommelier of three-Michelin-starred Les Amis, opened wine and whisky bar La Terre in 2015. Comprising just a 14-seater cedar wood counter and another 6-seater booth, the intimate bar offers a treasure trove of wines and other drinks such as sakes too. Some of his recent awards include Sommelier of the Year 2019 under the World Gourmet Awards Singapore, and winner of the Asia Best Sommelier Competition in French Wines by Sopexa in 2017.
