Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2019 held in Singapore sees The Old Man, Hong Kong clinching The Best Bar in Asia 2019 award, alongside more than 10 bars in Singapore who made it on this year’s list.
It was a star-studded night at Capitol Theatre Singapore on 9 May, where top bar-owners, mixologists and others gathered for the unveiling of the 2019 list of Asia’s 50 Best Bars.
The Old Man, Hong Kong, a bar that pays tribute to writer Ernest Hemingway and his novel The Old Man and the Sea, clinched top spot, becoming The Best Bar in Asia 2019 and The Best Bar in China 2019, both sponsored by Perrier. Manhattan from Singapore took the number 2 spot while Indulge Experimental Bistro from Taiwan came in at number 3. Meanwhile, 12 new entries made it to the list, including Coa from Hong Kong (number 12) who also claims the highest new entry award, Aha Saloon from Taiwan (number 24), Hope & Sesame from Guangzhou (number 35), Oto from the Philippines (number 47), and Bar Trigona from Malaysia (number 40), who also receives the Ketel One Sustainability Bar Award.
Among Singapore bars, Manhattan remains The Best Bar in Singapore, followed by Native at number 4 and Atlas at number 5. Other notable mentions are Jigger and Pony, receiving the Highest Climber Award, moving 33 spots to come in at number 9; and Tippling Club who comes in at number 11. The rest of the bars who also received honours are Gibson at number 15, 28 HongKong Street at number 21, Operation Dagger at number 22, and D.Bespoke at number 25, Employees Only at number 41, and The Other Room at number 46.
