The very popular Wine Fiesta is back for its 2018 edition from 19 to 21 October, this time in the air-conditioned comfort of the beautiful Fullerton Bay Hotel.
This year’s festival focus is on the body of the wine. Accordingly, over 250 wines showcased in the three-day event will be tagged according to their body types: light, medium and full-bodied.
The aim is to make wine tasting and exploration more accessible. “We know our guests want to indulge in variety, and to learn more about the world of wine in a fun, relaxed atmosphere,” says Ms Kathy Lim-Sheehy, Group CEO of the Straits Wine Company. “And we can’t wait to show everyone our new way of presenting wines by varietal and body-style.”
The event kicks off on the evening of 19 October with the highly anticipated Winemakers’ Table Dinner held at Clifford Pier in Fullerton Bay Hotel. Dutch chef Tim Meijers will be dishing up an exquisite four-course dinner ($188 per person), but the real draw is lightly to be the wine bar buffet featuring a free flow of over 70 iconic wines from around the world. Guests will also get the rare opportunity to meet winemakers from Barossa Valley’s Smallfry, Piedmont’s G.D. Vajra and Champagne Phillipe Gamet.
The Fiesta will go into full swing the next two days, spread over key spots at Fullerton Bay Hotel, including La Brasserie and Landing Point. For just $45 (standard ticket), guests will get to sample a wide range of wines from the likes of Babich, Valenciso and JB Neufield. Top up $30 and go the whole nine yards with a champagne and premium wine selection that includes Drappier Brut Nature Zero Dosage, Yarra Yering Dry Red Wine No.1 2011 and Speri Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico 2013. There are also more than 10 masterclasses available, offering insights into sparkling wines, whiskeys, roses and New World Sauvignon Blancs.
So swing by, drink wine and have yourself a real fiesta.
