Award-winning wine bar RVLT celebrates its first anniversary on Carpenter Street with a line-up of events.
There’s a lot to like about RVLT (short for revolution), located on Carpenter Street: The cosy, unpretentious vibes, the wide selection of natural wines, and the variety of innovative dishes prepared with sustainable produce. And now the guys are giving us more reasons to visit with the launch of 4-Play, a pre-dinner special available every Monday to Wednesday from 5.30 to 7pm.
With any order of drink, whether by the glass or by the bottle, guests will be treated to complimentary snacks such as salmon rillettes, cheese parfait and hazelnuts, cherry tomatoes and ricotta toasties, and parma ham and avocado toasties.
Four rounds of snacks will be served through the evening, in 20- to 30-minute intervals. After which, guests are welcomed to stay on for dinner.
For heartier items, the chicken liver mousse ($18) and patty melt ($24) are some of the must-try dishes. The former comprises smooth chicken liver mousse, apple and celery served with perfectly toasted brioche, while the latter, available only on Friday and Saturday or during dinner on weekdays via a ‘secret handshake’, boasts a scrumptious wagyu beef patty and white cheddar cheese sandwiched between crusty bread.
Another programme that the wine bar launched recently is Tasting Tuesdays, where guests will be presented with a thematic flight of wines curated by sommeliers and co-owners of the bar Alvin Gho and Ian Lim. Apart from tasting the wines, guests will also get to learn more about the labels, as the sommeliers will share nuggets of information about the producer, how the grapes are grown and more.
The themes change every week, and the line-up for each month’s tastings will be announced on RVLT’s social media channels at the start of each month. For the last remaining Tuesday of this month, the theme is Austrian Revolution (25 September).
Last but not least, to celebrate its first year anniversary since they opened on Carpenter Street—the wine bar was formerly located on Killiney Road—RVLT will be rolling out a few special events in the coming weeks.
On the night of 29 September, resident chef Kenneth Foong (alumni of Eleven Madison Park and Betony in New York City) together with Nicole Philipson (alumni of The Modern and Cosme in New York City) will be serving up a New York-inspired five-course tasting menu plus snacks at S$128++ per person.
On 2 and 3 October, guest chef Leandros Stagogiannis (alumni of Fat Duck, Fifty Three, Saint Pierre) will be flying in from South Korea, where he is now based, to helm the kitchen. His menu is rife with Korean inspirations, with dishes like beef yukhoe comprising charred beef tartar, fried capers, Korean pear, perilla oil, sesame, endive, spring onion; gamjatang soup with bokkeumbap, spicy Korean pork spine soup with fried rice; and gochujang glazed seabass fillet with pickled onion, smoked charcoal oil, and dash broth.
