Sharing a love and appreciation for quality coffee and delectable cocktails, the founders of 78 Alkofelic saw a collaborative opportunity to create a haven for their fellow connoisseurs.
A café by day and bar by night, the establishment prides itself on its wide variety of beverages, from freshly brewed coffees and teas to beers and classic cocktails, and even cold-pressed juices. Their main feature, however, is their range of coffee-based cocktails.
Their signature alcoholic coffee mixtures feature uniquely Singaporean twists such as the Flying Singaporean ($15), which involves a heady combination of absinthe, XO and coffee; and the refreshing Ice Boozy Alkofee ($15), which boasts tangy and sweet notes, and contains a balance of Cointreau, brandy, Kahlua, Irish cream and hot coffee. Classic coffee cocktails are also available, of course, such as the ever-popular Espresso Martini ($15), which combines café liqueur, Kahlua, tequila, espresso and white rum; the Old Fashioned Coffee ($15), a double espresso mixed with bourbon, bitters and brown sugar; and the Alko White Russian ($15) with vodka, coffee and Irish cream. The coffee used in these cocktails are from the available daily brews, which vary according to the beans used—typically single origin beans from Ethiopia, or unique in-house blends.
For coffee and cocktail lovers, it’s a perfect addition to the popular restaurant-dense stretch of Purvis Street and a great stop to toast their favourite beverages—preferably as a drink in one.
