Presented by Campari and Imbibe USA, this year’s Negroni Week will take place from 4 to 10 June simultaneously around the world.
Here in Singapore, the week-long international charity initiative promises to be bigger than ever, with over 70 bars pledging at least $1 to a charity of their choice for every Negroni sold. First started in 2013 in the US, Negroni Week has spread to over 60 countries last year and raised more that $1.5 million for charity in the process. Of course, it has also flamed the popularity of the bittersweet Campari-based cocktail, not least by tasking bartenders around the world to come up with creative iterations of the classic drink.
Thus far, local submissions have come in from some of the island’s hottest bars including Manhattan, Atlas, Neon Pigeon and the newly opened Origin at Shangri-La Singapore.
From a heady concoction of chocolate and hazelnut distillate, fig-infused vermouth and of course, Campari, topped with coffee foam (Buona Vista, Origin) to a easy blend of Campari paired with infused citrus gin and umeshu reduction, and bianco vermouth (Bello Bella, Neon Pigeon), they promise to make a Negroni convert out of you if you are not a fan already.
