Capella Singapore rolls out a new healthy afternoon tea menu featuring an array of gluten-free and dairy-free sweet and savoury creations.

Afternoon teas don’t get any healthier than Capella Singapore’s latest Wellness Tea Time experience, offered only on Fridays at the hotel’s designer kitchen, Chef’s Table.

A wholesome spin to the regular afternoon tea menu

Don’t expect to find indulgent afternoon tea classics like buttery scones laden with clotted cream and strawberry jam or cream-filled cakes here. The menu, conceptualised by Sandra Lim of Live Fruitfully, a certified raw food chef from The Matthew Kenney Culinary Institute, and chef David Senia, the culinary director of Capella Singapore, revolves around wholesome ingredients like quinoa, zucchini, beetroot, chia seeds, and more.

Savoury selections

Highlights from the five-course Wellness Tea Time menu include the cauliflower millefeuille with shiitake ‘bacon’, and the tempeh portobello slider with green goddess cream from the savoury selection.

Those with a sweet tooth will enjoy the desserts, all prepared with unrefined sugar such as maple syrup and vegan chocolate chips. Our top picks are the quinoa and zucchini chocolate tea cake and cultivated blueberry ‘cheesecake’ with beetroot glaze.

What’s an afternoon tea without scones? We love the ones here as they are chockfull of healthy ingredients, which means we can have a few of them without feeling guilty. The scones are made without eggs and butter, while the jam is made with real raspberries and chia seeds, and the cream is prepared with whipped coconut milk.

To further complete the afternoon tea indulgence, diners can take a pick from the three fine Ronnefeldt Ayurvedic teas—a cocoa-rich taste with light floral notes Stay in Balance; an invigorating herbal Light My Flame or the smooth green tea blend Let It Go.

Priced at $59 per person, the Wellness Tea Time is available every Friday from 3 to 5pm.
