Slake your thirst for craft cocktails at the Singapore Cocktail Festival (#SGCF2018) at Empress Lawn
This year’s #SGCF2018 from 4 to 13 May promises to be even more exciting, with the 2018 Asia’s 50 Best Bars Awards held in Singapore on 3 May. Over the course of 10 days, prepare to be bewitched by cocktail artistry as the best mixologists and bartenders from Singapore and around the world descend on Empress Lawn. Apart from tasting delicious drinks, there’d be a slew of masterclasses, workshops, bar tours and events to go for there and around the island.
Here are the highlights:
Festival Village (in front of Victoria Concert Hall)
Keep your 4 to 6 May weekend free if you love your craft cocktails. Empress Lawn, overlooking the Singapore River, will come alive with more than 25 popups bars featuring bartenders from Singapore and abroad. Some of the bars in the Singapore lineup are Caffé Fernet, Cin Cin, Nutmeg & Clove, and RedTail Bar, while guests from abroad include renowned bartenders such as James Estes from Skullduggery, KL, Bob Louison, Pussyfoot Salon, Seoul and more.
There’s much else to keep you occupied as you stroll through the Festival Village. Check out the Artisanal Spirits Tasting Room, where you can sample small-batch, handcrafted spirits such as Black Cow Vodka, a vodka made entirely from the milk of grass-grazed cows; festival workshops such as Kyrö Distillery Company’s gin blending workshop; an Asia Bar Battle competition featuring bartenders from the region; and a Food Street featuring cuisine from restaurants such as Italian Sinfonia Ristorante, modern Asian Zui Hong Lou and more.

Events around the city
If that’s not enough, from 4 to 13 May, traipse through other bars and speakeasies around the island with the festival’s Cocktail passport. You’d be able to get discounts and a taste of special pairing menus at participating venues such as 28HKS, Anti:Dote, Blackwattle, Caffé B, Court Martial Bar, Neon Pigeon, Potato Head, Super Loco Customs House (full list available here).
Or you could opt to go on themed bar tours on 9 or 12 May, featuring 4 bars a night, such as the He(art)’s Content Tour on 9 May, where you will take a walk about Singapore’s arts and civic district, discovering Chihuly Lounge, The Ritz Carlton, Tess Bar & kitchen, Seah Street, Loof, Odeon Towers and Smoke & Mirrors, National Gallery.
