Bruichladdich welcomed its new brand ambassador Chloe Wood with—you guessed it—a round of drinks.
On 16 November 2017, Bruichladdich organised an intimate meet and greet for media friends to introduce its new regional brand ambassador Chloe Wood. The event took place at Single Cask at Chijmes over several rounds of whiskies.
As whisky ambassadors go, Wood is relatively youthful at just 23 years old, but don’t mistake that for inexperience. As the regional brand ambassador, she conducts master classes and represents the brands at industry events. She is also in charge of other brands in the portfolio including The Botanist, Octomore and Port Charlotte.
For the occasion, guests were treated to some of Bruichladdich’s classic expressions. The Classic Laddie, an unpeated whisky, is smooth on the palate and carries notes of tangerine and honey. Bruichladdich’s heavily peated whiskies like Octomore 7.1 are more intense with distinctly sweet aromas.
On its own, the Octomore 7.1 is smoky with notes of vanilla and honey. When paired with black sesame dark chocolates from local chocolatier Demochoco, its flavours intensified. The sweetness from the chocolates was not too overpowering and complemented the 7.1 well.
The special treat for the evening was the Octomore Black Art, aka OBA concept, a limited release of 3,000 bottles that is currently sold out worldwide. On the nose, the OBA concept comes across a little strong and bitter, but goes down very smoothly. Like the Octomore 7.1, it is heavily peated but carries notes of ginger, liquorice and apricot.
