22 November saw Thai Airway’s launch of its newest flight from Singapore to Vienna at The St. Regis Singapore, and we were there to witness it.

Thai Airways’ inaugural flight to Vienna took off on 16 November. Now Thai Airways flies four times a week from Singapore to Vienna via Bangkok.

In collaboration with Wine & Dine, the event was themed A Night of Music: An Austrian Affair, to reflect Vienna’s rich musical heritage and culture. Guests were treated to Thai canapes and a four-course modern European dinner that included Austrian dishes such as veal schnitzel and chocolate sacher cake, paired with Austrian wines from Leopold. Guests enjoyed musical performances throughout the night beginning with a violin duo from VETTA. The highlight of the evening was a performance by young choir members, aged five to 12, from MAADspace, who gave rousing renditions of songs from the popular musical and film set in Austria, The Sound of Music. Guests also had a lovely souvenir to take home in the form of a personalised silhouette cut-out.

The night ended with an exciting lucky draw featuring a pair of economy class tickets on Thai Airways to Bangkok among others. The grand prize, of course, was a pair of economy class ticket on Thai Airways to Vienna.
