This has turned out to be a year for Japanese food enclaves.
Japan Food Town at Wisma Atria opened earlier this year, Nihon Food Street at Millenia Walk got new additions, and Japan Food Garden, a cluster of Japanese food stalls at Food Republic Shaw House, opened recently. Now, there is Itadakimasu by Parco, a 14,000-square-feet Japanese restaurant located on the third floor of 100 AM mall.
Check out Numazu Uogashizushi, a new sushi restaurant with auction rights in Numazu fish market in Shizuoka, which means it gets to bring in Shizuoka’s specialities like fresh sakura shrimp and baby sardines.
Another new entrant to Singapore is Nadai Fujisoba Ni Hachi, a soba restaurant from Shibuya, Tokyo, whose classic broth is made with a dashi that blends dried bonito and kaeshi (soy sauce, sugar and aged mirin). Other unusual soba dishes offered include dry kamo maze soba with duck meat ($16), and hot mentai cream soba ($17) featuring seasoned cod roe, fresh cream and dashi.
