The folks behind the award-winning Yardbird have left the nest. Their first international outlet, The Bird Southern Table and Bar, has set up shop among the bevy of celebrity chef restaurants in Marina Bay Sands.
Bringing the brand’s signature comfort food and hospitality from the American South, restaurateur John Kunkel serves up family recipes like the hundred-year old Lewellyn’s Fine Fried Chicken ($35) in addition to Southern staples like buttermilk biscuits ($10), macaroni and cheese ($14), and fried chicken with waffles ($45). Also featured is the Singapore-exclusive Low Country Laksa ($38), comprising a skin-on snapper fillet with Carolina gold rice pirlau grains topped with a caramelised ginger and coconut broth.
Drinks-wise, do try their signature Old Fashioned ($27) with bacon-infused bourbon, or for a dash of Asian flavour, The Japanese Porkchop ($26), a concoction of Yamazaki 12-year-old whisky, Dijon mustard, Marugoto Shibori yuzu juice, and unfiltered apple cider. You’ll also find an extensive selection of bourbon at The Bird, which includes rare expressions like Pappy Van Winkle and Jefferson’s Aged at Sea.
After your meal, be sure to head up to the 190-seater’s second floor for an excellent bayside view of Singapore’s iconic cityline.
Otherwise, get a taste of The Bird at this year’s Epicurean Market 2017!
