Taking place from 14 to 30 July 2017, the Singapore Food Festival (SFF) promises a delicious lineup featuring the best of local talents and heritage eats.

From a heritage tour complete with a lavish tok panjang (traditional Peranakan long table) to a wine safari that pairs wine with the island’s favourite hawker food, plenty awaits lovers of local cuisine.

Not to be missed is SFF’s signature event, STREAT, which takes place at Clifford Square on 14 and 15 July (5 to 10.30pm). Chef Malcolm Lee of Candlenut will be collaborating with Wild Rocket’s Willin Low to present a three-course Mod Sin or modern Peranakan menu. There will also be nine other stalls, hand-picked to offer a unique spin on quintessentially local dishes. Expect to see some familiar names like New Ubin Seafood, Whampoa Prawn Noodle as well as the Singapore culinary team that took home the gold medal from the 2016 Ika Hoga Culinary Olympics.

Key highlights at SFF 2017 also include:

One Dish, One Chef, Generation of Stories by Canon Singapore

Alvin Foo presents a collection of the intimate stories behind 15 of Singapore’s heritage hawkers and their signature dishes, as told in photographs. Exhibited with a brief write up on each hawker, these images hope to establish a connection with their viewers.

Open Stoves by Timbre+

Back for a second edition, this year’s Open Stoves will feature pairings between Timbre+ chefs and new-generation hawkers to create unique dishes inspired by street food. Old hawker favourites like Hong Seng Curry Rice and Roast Paradise will be bringing their traditional hawker recipes to the three-day event.

Aside from the collaboration dishes, Open Stoves will also be providing entertainment for all ages: bouncy castle, face painting, beer pong and even an ‘iron stomach’ eating competition! Of course, where there is great food and entertainment, there is music too! Acoustic performances and Timbre’s resident bands—SuperSonic and O.K Ready! will be playing at the event.

Taking place for one weekend only, head over to Timbre+ for a weekend of fun and good food!
