Studio 1939, under the Singaporean chapter of Potato Head, is serving up an exciting new range of cocktails and more at their Keong Saik street address.
Take a short climb up to the third floor of Potato Head, and you’ll find Studio 1939’s head mixologist Kamil Foltan at the bar, serving up creative cocktails inspired by familiar Singaporean flavours. Be sure to try Yakun Kaya, a boozy take of Singapore’s favourite breakfast with bourbon, almond, coffee and a dab of—you guessed it!—Yakun kaya on the side. Instead of off-the-shelf varieties, you’ll also find many house-infused spirits at Studio 1939, such as in Kong’s Fizz, a chocolate and banana whisky sour made with homemade banana bitters. The coffee negroni, meanwhile, features coffee-infused bitters made in house.
Aspiring bar aficionados should certainly pop in for Studio 1939’s monthly workshops, held every second Saturday of the month. Each workshop starts from $40 per head, and focuses on a particular spirit. From April to July, Studio 1939 will be covering champagne, gin, Japanese spirits and finally, bourbon. You’ll pick up some historical tidbits about your favourite spirit, and learn some cocktail recipes from like-minded bar backs.
That’s not all: don’t be surprised to find a celebrity chef behind the bar at Studio 1939. Just last week, Potato Head played host to world-renowned patissier Will Goldfarb of Bali’s Room4Dessert. Together with Foltan, the duo served up a five-course menu of dessert and cocktail menu ($85) that dazzled and delighted.
There’s plenty more coming out of Potato Head Singapore and Studio 1939. We can’t wait.
