Champagne, fireworks, and that view on New Year’s Eve. We look at a few restaurants to welcome the new year in style with some bites and bubbly. On the list: Joël Robuchon, Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora, Le Méridien Singapore and Level33.
Over at Resorts World Sentosa, Joël Robuchon restaurant will be offering a nine-course New Year’s Eve menu ($588) that includes some of its signature dishes such as wild salmon tartare with imperial caviar and saffron crisps; combination of foie gras and ratte potatoes carpaccio with black truffle, as well as beef chateaubriand and foie gras, ‘Rossini’ style with soufflé potatoes and port reduction.

At Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora, count down to the New Year surrounded by a vibrant sea of marine life. As you admire manta rays or leopard sharks in the Open Ocean Habitat of the S.E.A. Aquarium, tuck into a Mediterranean-Californian feast the likes of sous-vide turkey breast with truffle morel broth and decadent smoked milk chocolate log with bergamot sorbet. Lunch sets throughout the festive season are available from $60 for three courses, and dinner sets at $138 for four courses.

Imagine being perched on the 33rd floor of the Marina Bay Financial Centre with an unfettered view of the New Year’s Eve fireworks. Sounds good already? Level33 takes you there with their New Year’s Eve package ($398). Tuck into canapés and sizzling dishes like spinach pork and a 12-hour slow roast beef tenderloin by Chef Jimi Tegerdine, and wash it all down with free-flow specialty craft beers by brewmaster Gabriel Garcia, a selection of wines, fruit juice or soft drinks. And there’d be midnight snacks and a glass of Rothschild champagne for everyone to ring in the New Year.

For a venue that’s a world away from the crowd yet in the thick of all the festive action, consider Latest Recipe and the WoW – World of Whisky, Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa’s all-day dining restaurant and cocktail bar. They’ll be welcoming the New Year with a ‘Midnight in Singapore and Paris’ buffet ($98). French dishes like chicken cordon bleu and seafood with fennel in pernod cream sauce will be served, along with desserts like macarons, choux puffs and crepes, not forgetting local signatures like black pepper char kway teow and Singapore flower chilli crab.
