The occasion: South African rainbow trout has finally landed on local shores.
The official launch of South African trout to Singapore took place on 24 August and was attended by Her Excellency Hazel Francis Ngubeni, High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa. Singapore’s top chefs and guests from South Africa and Singapore sampled the organic, sustainably-farmed fish prepared by the chefs at The Sapling restaurant in Enabling Village.
The bites: A delectable menu was served to showcase the versatility of the fish, including oak-smoked South African trout with herb cream cheese roulade; crispy batter lychee with stuffed South African salmon pate; hot smoked South African trout miniature mushroom pie and cleartom yam broth with thinly sliced South African trout.
The sips: Guests were offered Parker’s premium hand-crafted organic juices as well as a selection of South African wines from Nederburg comprising The Young Airhawk Sauvignon Blanc 2012; The Anchorman Chenin Blanc 2012; The Brew Master Bordeaux-style Blend 2010; The Motorcycle Marvel Rhône-style Blend 2010; and The Beautiful Lady Gewürztraminer 2013.
