Joining a supermarket, café and laundromat amongst others in the Eastwood neighbourhood shopping arcade is a 40-seater modern European restaurant opened by Sam Lim, the chief executive offer of No Signboard Seafood. San Bistro, named after Lim’s wife, offers elegantly plated dishes that follow classic French cooking techniques. Try the Miso Cod with Sake-Infused Japonica Rice with Dehydrated Enoki, Horseradish and Scallion Foam ($36), or the Amadai Fillet flash fried for a remarkably crispy skin served with Meuniere Sauce, Potato Mousseline and Bruleed Cauliflower ($40). Our favourite is the tiramisu-inspired Orb ($18): a chocolate ball that disintegrates by pouring hot chocolate ganache over, revealing mascarpone ice cream, homemade sponge cake and irish coffee liqueur.
